Leather wastewater has the characteristics of large water volume, complex water quality, a wide variety of pollutants, and high concentration, which makes it difficult to treat. Therefore, leather wastewater treatment has become an important research direction of my country's environmental protection industry. 2. Sources of leather wastewater and characteristics of pollutants Leather wastewater mainly comes from leather making, fur processing and leather product production. According to different processing processes, leather wastewater can be divided into the following categories: 1. Pre-tanning preparation wastewater: mainly includes wastewater from washing, soaking, dehairing, liming, deliming, softening, degreasing and other sections. This type of wastewater contains a large amount of suspended matter, organic matter and inorganic salts, and has the characteristics of large water volume, high pollution load and high chroma. 2. Tanning wastewater: mainly includes wastewater from washing, pickling, tanning and other sections. This type of wastewater contains heavy metal ions (such as chromium, zinc, etc.), organic matter and inorganic salts, and has the characteristics of large water volume, high pollution load and high chroma. 3. Wastewater from the finishing process: mainly includes wastewater from washing, squeezing, dyeing, greasing, dust removal and other processes. This type of wastewater contains pollutants such as dyes, grease, organic compounds, and has the characteristics of large water volume, high pollution load and high chroma. 3. Leather wastewater treatment process The leather wastewater treatment process mainly includes three stages: pretreatment, biochemical treatment and deep treatment. 1. Pretreatment: Pretreatment is an important part of leather wastewater treatment, mainly including facilities such as grids, sedimentation tanks, regulating tanks, and flotation tanks. The main task of pretreatment is to adjust water volume and water quality, remove suspended matter, grease and other pollutants, and create good conditions for subsequent treatment. 2. Biochemical treatment: Biochemical treatment is the core part of leather wastewater treatment, mainly including activated sludge method, biofilm method, etc. The main purpose of biochemical treatment is to degrade organic pollutants in wastewater and reduce pollution load. 3. Deep treatment: Deep treatment is the last link in leather wastewater treatment, which mainly includes coagulation sedimentation, adsorption, membrane separation and other methods. The main purpose of deep treatment is to further remove pollutants in wastewater and improve the water quality of wastewater. IV.
