Decanter centrifuges find extensive applications in municipal wastewater treatment, primarily in sludge thickening and dewatering. 

The specific applications are as follows:   

 - **Sludge Thickening**   Decanter centrifuges are used for sludge thickening in wastewater treatment plants and sludge discharge water from waterworks. They can concentrate sludge with an inlet concentration of 0.3%–1.5% to 3%–8%, reducing the burden and cost of subsequent sludge dewatering while ensuring the clarified liquid meets discharge standards. 

 - **Sludge Dewatering**   Specialized decanter centrifuges for water treatment rapidly separate solid particles from municipal wastewater and produce relatively dry solid sediments, reducing the suspended solids content in water and effectively addressing water pollution. For example, the water treatment decanter centrifuge by Zhikai Separation features a vortex-type screw discharge port, ensuring high processing capacity and low flocculant consumption.  - **Energy Efficiency Enhancement**   A Chinese urban wastewater treatment company adopted Alfa Laval decanter centrifuge technology in the latest phase of its wastewater treatment expansion. Compared with domestic similar products, this technology increased energy efficiency by 30%–40% and reduced polymer demand by 30%.

Decanter centrifuges are widely used in industrial wastewater treatment, and the following are some specific cases:  

 ### - Treatment of Mixed Wastewater from a High - tech New Material Technology Company   A high - tech new material technology company generates a large amount of mixed wastewater with complex chemical components during the production process, which is characterized by high suspended solids content, complex composition and great treatment difficulty. Zhikai Company recommended the LW550×2250C two - phase decanter centrifuge for it. The equipment has a drum diameter of 550mm, a length of 2250mm, a maximum speed of 3000 rpm, a centrifugal force of 2772G, a main motor of 55kW, an auxiliary motor of 18.5kW and a processing capacity of 50 - 55m³/h. After treatment, the suspended solids content in the wastewater is reduced from 10,000 - 20,000mg/L to below 50mg/L, the removal rate exceeds 95%, and the moisture content of the sludge is reduced from 98% to below 75%.  

Treatment of Steel - rolling Wastewater in a Steel Enterprise   SHENZHOU special water - treatment centrifuge is used for the treatment of steel - rolling wastewater in a steel enterprise, which successfully solves the wastewater treatment problem of the enterprise. After treatment, the moisture content of the slag does not exceed 23%, and the solid recovery rate is as high as over 95%. Compared with the previous method of extracting the upper - layer wastewater and cleaning the tank with an excavator, the centrifuge separation process reduces the labor intensity of operators, greatly improves the production efficiency and reduces the production cost at the same time.   

- Oil Sludge Separation in a Petrochemical Enterprise   In the oil sludge separation project of a petrochemical enterprise, the solid content in the oil sludge is about 10% - 15%. Before centrifugal separation, the materials are pretreated first, including adding hydrochloric acid to the oil sludge for gel breaking and demulsification, heating the materials to about 85℃, and then feeding them into the Shenzhou three - phase decanter centrifuge. After separation, the moisture content in the oil is 2% - 3%, the oil content in the water is 0.8%, the oil content in the slag is 1.5%, and the recovery rate of liquid oil is as high as 95%, which significantly reduces the production cost and environmental pollution.  

- Treatment of Asbestos Wastewater in the Alkali - making Industry   For the asbestos wastewater generated by diaphragm electrolysis in the alkali - making industry, a complete set of wastewater purification scheme is developed supporting the decanter centrifuge. The decanter centrifuge plus flocculant is adopted to treat the asbestos wastewater. The operation of the whole system can be fully automatically controlled by PLC, which can separate the asbestos fluff from the wastewater and make the drainage meet the national and local discharge standards. The separated clear water contains NaOH, which can be sent to the brine section for salt dissolving and magnesium ion precipitation, realizing comprehensive utilization and zero discharge of the asbestos wastewater.
